Comerica Bank to move Detroit office to Penobscot Building

Comerica Bank is moving its center at 201 W. Fort St. in downtown Detroit to the Penobscot Building down the block.

The move is part of the Dallas-based bank’s $3 million investment plan for the city, which includes the relocation of offices and new developments.

All seven employees at the Fort Street location will move into the new 4,000-square-foot office at 645 Griswold St., Suite 70, when it opens Feb. 12. Josh Smith, manager of operations at Fort Street site, will maintain that role at the Penobscot Building.

In December, Comerica Bank put the historic Albert Kahn-designed Detroit Trust Co. Building up for sale. The building is still on the market, with nothing new to report, said Kathleen Pitton, vice president of corporate communications for Comerica, via email.
