Gilbert lands $8 million in brownfield financing for Free Press building project

Dan Gilbert’s real estate company is receiving nearly $8 million in state brownfield incentives to redevelop the former Detroit Free Press headquarters building on West Lafayette Boulevard.

The Michigan Strategic Fund board green-lit the incentive for the $78.9 million mixed-use project Tuesday; the anticipated redevelopment cost has increased more than 10 percent since the previous $69.7 million price tag was revealed 17 months ago.
