SW to open North American headquarters in Oakland County
SW North America Inc. is building its North American headquarters in New Hudson.
The company, a subsidiary of German Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH, produces precision metalworking production machines for the auto industry, industrial sector, aerospace and defense. SW expects the metro Detroit foothold to help it expand automotive connections, according to a media advisory.
The 40,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, the land and the equipment cost SW about $12 million altogether, company president James Campbell said in an emailed statement.
It currently employs 43 people in metro Detroit, but has plans to raise that number to 50, Campbell said.
